2024 Chicago Public League Top Honors

Ethan Borggren, SR - Northwestern Commit: 2024 CPL Player of the Year
One of Lane Tech's captains and a two-way player who spent a majority of his time at first base had a banner senior year with a team-high 8 home runs and 45 RBI. He was used as a closer early in the season picking up clutch saves against St. Rita and Mt. Carmel, coming in with runners on base and leaving all inherited runners stranded. His baseball career will continue just north of the city in Evanston at Northwestern University.

Oliver Evans, SR - 2024 CPL Pitcher of the Year
The lights-out lefty and consummate team player, Evans led Lane Tech in innings pitched, wins and strikeouts. While the stats speak for themselves, it was his unflappable demeanor on the mound that entertained fans, coaches and teammates alike. This resolve was on full display in the CPL Championships, coming out of the bullpen with Lane facing a three-run deficit, no-hitting Kenwood for three innings and eventually picking up the win on the mound at historic Wrigley Field. 

Sean Freeman - 2024 CPL Coach of the Year
In his seventh season as Lane's head coach, Freeman notched his second CPL title while making a 14-0 run through Jackie Robinson North Conference play. The veteran head coach had to navigate a rash of injuries to his game-ready players, while showcasing his system's depth, shuffling a lineup with a handful of underclassman call-ups. His program weathered the injury bug and picked up a city title at the Junior Varsity level, as well.
